Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Ice Cream!!!
Yep. We experienced it all: the blood, the sweat, and the tears. Honestly, I thought that I'd just casually, quietly, pass on canning this year. No fruit was falling into my lap and I wasn't very motivated to hunt any down. (A whole summer of super hot weather, 5 kids, a nursing baby and early morning exercise to drop the flub that came with having aforementioned baby makes a mom TIRED and unmotivated for intense domestic pursuits such as canning.) Then there's also the fact that when Wayne's Bar came out, the extra kitchen we had in the basement went with it. It was ugly (the walls were a vomitous shade of yellow), but it was an awesome place to can. Two Saturdays ago, my plans of a leisurely no-canning summer came to an end when my neighbor offered her entire apple tree to me. These are good apples too. They aren't even worm-ridden.
