Going Big!
Despite the COVID, June brought a few delights--one being the re-opening of our favorite public pool--the Murray outdoor pool--along with a new find--The Cottonwood Heights outdoor pool, featuring a 30 foot cliff dive. We hit both of those, much to the delight of the kids. School also officially ended. That was a relief, since the kids were doing distance Waldorf via technology, with is, in itself, a complete oxymoron. June also marked Casey's 49th birthday. He wanted to hike Deseret Peak this year to celebrate. (We'd planned to do it the week before, but a surprise cold front meant that temperatures at the summit would be sub-freezing and snowy and we knew that would be demoralizing for the kids.) We debated about bringing all of the kids--Casey would have to carry 3-year-old Sean and I would need to employ my best motivation skills to coax 5-year-old Lindy to the top--but we opted for a true family epic in the end.
