JULY 2023!!
On the last day of June, Casey took all of the kids (and the dog) on a backpacking trip to Boulder Mountain. I decided that I needed more adventure in my life and had scored a last minute permit to day hike through the Zion Narrows from the top down so I reached out to my adventure friends and Cody, Jen and Ryan all jumped on board. I drove down with Cody (we stayed in her parent's house in St. George) and when stopped to pick up the backcountry permit at the Zion Visitor's Center, the backcountry rangers told us that a group of day hikers had just experienced an unplanned overnighter because the water was so high and difficult to navigate (the flow had just fallen below 100 cfs after a very wet winter and subsequent spring run-off). They discouraged us from attempting to hike it the next day--Saturday, July 1st--advising us that if we did we'd certainly need a wetsuit, an extremely early start, preparation for a possible overnighter and the ability to swim in strong curren...
