January brought some extreme sledding. Doug and Ilean came over to join the fun at Ben Franklin Park near our house. Even 8-month-pregnant ladies can get on a sled. The kids got to paint their little "cubby hole," as we call it, down in the basement. Things got a little out of control and by the time they finished they were all covered in paint. Hallee still has paint in her hair 3 months later. Zeke probably had a 50% coverage rate when he finished. January also marked the annual yurt trip. This time we invited the Meltons to join us--we stayed in the East Fork yurt and they picked the Bear Claw. Winter yurt expeditions with kids require a lot of preparation and determination, but it is always worth the effort. Lindy and Zeke got to ride on top of our biggest haul sled. Casey and I pulled this one (mostly Casey) and then we had two smaller sleds that the three older kids took turns pulling. And yes, very pregnant ladies can go on yurt expeditions. ...
