The Blur . . .

Image
The past month and a half have been a blur. Here are a few of the things that have been happening:  In April, I spent a week in Cedar City watching Kristen's kids while she and Troy were living it up in San Diego. That episode marked the first major road trip for me solo with my kids and I am pretty proud of myself. Keeping the kids fed (including a nursing baby) and pottied over 260 miles of open road and then managing a household of nine kids for the week was epic stuff for me. I pretty much felt like a super hero when I was done. We've been busy the past couple of months with lots of family gatherings, temple trips, dinners, movie nights, family home evenings, and other events. Casey's parents left on an 18 month mission to Nauvoo earlier this month and Kay's family moved cross-country to Louisiana this week. Last Saturday marked the first official workday at Casey's parents house. All of the siblings and their families will come together once a month to...

More March Stuff..

Last month, after much deliberation, we decided to re-home both bunnies. Snowball and Niblett had been fighting, violently drawing blood on several occasions, so we separated them into different cages and finally decided that they needed homes where they'd get more attention them we were giving them. They were adopted by an awesome family that will give them both lots of love. She's been impatiently waiting for this day since her last birthday. The night before her birthday, she didn't go to sleep until after midnig...

A Chicken Harvest and Another Hike

Image
A couple of weeks back we combined forces with the Goebels to harvest a whopping 12 chickens.  Mary has a neighbor that wanted to clear their coop of 8 and we added another 4 to the table.  The kids were generally fascinated and wanted to get a piece of the action--except for Hallee and Phoebe.  We'd talked to the kids about harvesting our flock and getting new chicks in the spring and they were all okay with it . . . until the blood started running.  Poor Hal started begging for the lives of Black Bill and Blackie--her two favorites.  Many tears were shed, but we now have a freezer full of chicken and the hope of a fresh little flock in the spring. Phil and Casey, handling the massive poultry harvest. We also got a chance to soak in some fall color up Big Cottonwood Canyon with our friends, Carlynn, Matthew, and Luke.  We took the kids up to Donut Falls.  (Very pregnant ladies can't get too crazy, you know.)  Afterwards, the kids fo...
