Birthdays, Anniversaries, Father's Day, Creativity and a Harvest

This was the scene at our house for over two weeks: Barf bowls and sick kids from the end of May until the second week of June. I prayed for relief from the plague (the dreaded week-long stomach flu) so that we could go on our family trek (although sick people on trek would have made it way more realistic I guess). Casey turned 47 on June 3rd. He had early morning meetings (and then meetings all day), so the plan was to celebrate with dinner at his parent's house that night. With Lindy and baby Sean sick that day, I had to miss church and then miss Casey's birthday to stay home with the wee puking ones. It was a pretty crappy day. I felt like Cinderella, doing all of the work and then missing out on everything. Birthday morning! Here are some snippets of life around these parts over the past couple of months. Baby Sean has become totally mobile, climbing stairs, crawling at lightening speed, standing, and getting into all of the mischief that all babies seem to love. We used to surround the stone hearth with crash pillows when he got up there. Now we just turn him loose and hope for the best. In February we picked up some used skis for 3-year-old Lindy and built a little hill of snow for her to practice on. She figured it out during our first morning session. We'd been watching the Winter Olympics and Lindy was motivated to get her moves on (and tired of being left behind on family ski days). She chanted to herself, "I CAN do it," all morning until she could successfully ski the little hill. She is such a cheerful, positive soul.
