Rites of Spring
Although spring doesn't OFFICIALLY start until March 20th, when the temperatures rose up into the 70's this week, I was motivated to action. First, we added three new chicks to the flock: Black, Diamond, and Peach. Zeke with Peach and Black. Yes, that is poop in the foreground. Zeke picked out this cute Black Astralorp and named her "Black" Hallee chose a Golden Sex Link and named her "Diamond" Sophie picked out a rare breed called a Wellsummer and named her "Peach" Hallee is in HEAVEN!!!! This week I worked compost into my garden boxes and planted all of my early season crops--radishes, lettuce, spinach, carrots, onions, parsley, arugula, cilantro, peas, basil, and even some hardy broccoli and cauliflower varieties close to the house where it's perpetually warm.
